Bath and North East Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) held its second annual Conference on 9th March 2023, and first in-person Conference at the Keynsham Space (above the Keynsham library).

The Conference brought together local educators, professionals and practitioners working with children that may be at risk of serious violence. The focus of the day was on school exclusions, the impact they have, and the ways to prevent and reduce exclusions which affect some of our most vulnerable children. It was an opportunity to hear from local experts, learn from other agencies and collaborate with peers.

We were also pleased to welcome key note speaker Aisha Thomas for an immersive 90 minute talk. Aisha is the founder and director of Representation Matters Ltd, her own company. She is an educational consultant and has a firm focus on anti-racist practice, equity, justice and liberation. Aisha is also a university guest lecturer, and her debut book 'Becoming an anti-racist educator’ was released on 12 May 2022. She won Positive Role Model for Race/Ethnicity at the Bristol Diversity Awards 2020, received a 2021 Special Recognition Award from Bristol Black History Month magazine and won the 2021 Baton Awards Campaigner of the Year.
