The BCSSP training programme has been developed to equip people with knowledge, skills and competences to work effectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults and keep our communities safe.

All BCSSP training is centred on the lived experiences of the child or adult at risk, evidence based, promotes the need for working in partnership, and informed and governed by issues of equality and diversity.

BCSSP training is accessible to all B&NES individuals who work with children, adults at risk and /or their carers and is subjected to regular rigorous review and evaluation.

Multi–agency training

The BCSSP offers a full range of multi-agency training opportunities which promote and reflect the principles of multi-agency working. Undertaking training in mixed groups allows people to share their experience and learn from each other, this practice of collaboration enables more effective working and the quality of care and outcome for those with whom we work is improved.

Single-agency training

Agencies and work-setting can purchase safeguarding training specifically for their own staff group, using a trainer that is approved by the Partnership.

Training materials

BCSSP FGM training Slides

The BCSSP encourages all agencies to incorporate these slides into your single agency training to meet the standard set by the BCSSP for the raising awareness requirement in training. Please add using the general ones and then any additional slides as relevant:

Domestic Abuse Awareness

B&NES Domestic Abuse Partnership (DAP) developed learning standards to support the workforce to meet the required levels of knowledge about domestic abuse to ensure they feel confident taking action to ensure people they work with are safe. The standards are arranged across four levels ranging from everyone who interacts with the public (in any way) to specialist services whose primary target are those who have experienced violence and abuse or who may be at risk of doing so. The standards set out what knowledge and skill is required of individuals at each level, and how this can be acquired.
